Safely Jump Starting Your Car with Jumper Cables and a Nearby Car

Find that your car's battery is dead can make any day go bad. Fortunately, if you have a set of jumper cables and a nearby car with a good battery, you might be able to get your car running again.

Shut off both cars and set the parking brakes. Attach one end of the red jumper cable to the dead battery's positive terminal (usually marked with an "+" and/or red cap). Attach the other end of the red cable to the live battery's positive terminal. Attach the black cable to the live battery's negative terminal. Carefully, attach the other end of the black cable to a metal part of your engine.

Now, start the good car and run it for a few minutes. Try starting your car now. It might take a few tries, but it should turn over. Then, it's time to take your car to the Quick Lane Livonia Service Department for a quick check.
